The cause of the pain in Calf, Achilles tendon

If you want to know more about the general effects of acupuncture, please see here. In this section, I mention the cause of pain in the Calf, Achilles tendon and how to treat by acupuncture.

The calf is attached to the Achilles tendon. The Achilles tendon takes all the weight of the whole body or more when you jump or run, Therefore, the Achilles tendon, and the calf attached to it, are loaded and easy to get inflammation.

The following diagnosis are often shown by doctors.

Achilles tendon rupture, Achilles peritendinitis, Gastrocnemius/ soleus muscle strain, Fibular (Peroneal) Neuropathy. It can also cause pain or numbness in the calf, such as sciatica, Lumbar  disc herniation, Lumbar  spinal canal stenosis, which is higher point than the lower leg.

Acupuncture has an effect on the symptoms such as muscle strain. The tendon rupture itself don’t heal itself by acupuncture. For those diseases, the doctor's treatment is the first choice. However, the pain may remain after the series of treatment by doctors or rehabilitation by physio is completed. That is because the muscles around achilles reacted sensitive and get stiff, that will lead the nerves around them squeezed by the stiffness of the muscles. By massaging and acupuncture, the tension of the muscle and fascia get released and lighten the burden on the nerves that are causing the pain.

In the treatment, I will find the cause of the pain by examining carefully.
